Pennsylvania Station
Pennsylvania Station
The original Pennsylvania Station was designed by McKim, Mead and White, and built in 1910. Considered a masterpiece of the Beaux-Arts style and one of the architectural jewels of New York City, the station was demolished in 1963. The tragic loss to the city's architectural heritage – and corresponding outrage – led to the birth of the historical preservation movement.
