US Embassy - London
US Embassy - London
Saarinen's striking design for the US Embassy in London was his only project in Britain. Its modernist forms were controversial when the embassy was completed in the early 1960s, but it has since been declared a national landmark and neighbors have grown to love its unusual modernist forms. The singular structure still glows lantern-like on foggy nights, as it did in this beautifully atmospheric photo taken by Balthazar Korab in 1960.
