Greyhound Station - New York

Greyhound Station - New York

from $165.00

The Art Moderne or "Streamlined" style was vigorously expressed in transportation design. New York's Greyhound station, at 33rd Street and Seventh Avenue, telegraphed its modernity by eschewing traditional architectural motifs and ornament in favor of clean, geometric lines with curved corners. The "Greyhound" sign's geometric sans typeface symbolizes modern technology and efficiency. Buses and cabs surround the station. In the background is a stark contrast to all this modernity – the original Penn Station, a Beaux-Arts reminder of New York's architectural tradition.
